About Dr Hud Obaidi

Dr Hud Obaidi practises at Aurez Aesthetics in Malvern, Victoria, and performs a range of surgical procedures including VASER® liposuction with fat transfer, following detailed consultation and individual assessment. Dr Obaidi has undertaken training in cosmetic surgery techniques both in Australia and internationally, with a focus on patient safety and informed decision-making.At Aurez Aesthetics in Malvern, Victoria, all liposuction procedures are performed using VASER® and power-assisted liposuction (MicroAire®). In selected cases, a patient's own fat may be used to add volume to other areas of the body. Suitability for this approach is determined during consultation, and outcomes vary between individuals.

Understanding VASER® and MicroAire®  Liposuction

VASER® and MicroAire® liposuction is an invasive surgical procedure used to remove excess fat. VASER® uses ultrasound energy to assist in the breakdown of fat prior to removal, targeting fat deposits while aiming to reduce impact on surrounding tissues. Fat removal is then performed using power-assisted liposuction (MicroAire®), which uses a mechanised cannula to support more consistent movement during the procedure. As with all surgical procedures, suitability and outcomes vary between individuals and are discussed in detail during consultation.

The Combined Approach

Liposuction may be used to remove localised fat deposits from targeted areas of the body. In selected cases, the removed fat may be processed and reinjected to add volume to other body areas, such as the face, breasts, or buttocks. This technique uses the patient's own tissue rather than synthetic materials. Suitability for fat transfer depends on individual factors including fat quality and volume, and is assessed during consultation. As with all surgical procedures, outcomes vary and are not guaranteed.

Fat Survival

Following fat transfer, a proportion of the transferred fat may be reabsorbed by the body over time. The rate of fat survival varies between individuals and is influenced by factors such as the area treated, surgical technique, individual biology, and post-procedure care. Multiple sessions may be required to achieve or maintain the desired volume. The long-term retention of transferred fat cannot be predicted or guaranteed, and this is discussed in detail during consultation.

The Procedure

Consultation: Your journey begins with a thorough consultation with Dr. Obaidi, during which your medical history is reviewed, your concerns are discussed, and a treatment plan is developed based on your individual anatomy and goals.

Liposuction: Fat is removed from the selected donor area using established surgical techniques. The approach used will depend on individual anatomy and surgical planning, and is discussed during consultation.

Fat Processing: The removed fat is processed to separate viable fat cells from other fluids prior to reinjection.

Fat Transfer: The processed fat is then carefully reinjected into the target area. The volume and technique used will depend on individual factors and the area being treated.

Recovery and Results

Recovery: Following the procedure, swelling, bruising, and discomfort are common and expected. These symptoms generally reduce over the course of several weeks, though recovery experiences vary between individuals. Rest and limited activity are recommended during the initial recovery period, and specific post-operative instructions will be provided during consultation.

Results: Some changes may be visible in the early post-operative period, however final results are typically apparent after several months once swelling has resolved and any transferred fat has stabilised. The extent and longevity of results vary between individuals and cannot be guaranteed.

Risks and Considerations

As with all surgical procedures, liposuction and fat transfer carry inherent risks and potential complications. These will be discussed in detail during your consultation to support informed decision-making.

Bleeding and haematoma formation

Infection, which may require antibiotic treatment or further intervention

Adverse reaction to anaesthesia

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism

Delayed wound healing

Liposuction Specific Risks:

Contour irregularities or asymmetry

Skin laxity or changes in skin texture

Altered sensation, including numbness or tingling, which may be temporary or permanent

Seroma formation (fluid accumulation)

Scarring at incision sites

Incomplete fat removal or need for revision procedure

Fat Transfer Specific Risks:

Partial or complete reabsorption of transferred fat

Calcification or cyst formation at the transfer site

Asymmetry or uneven volume distribution

Oil cysts

In rare cases, fat embolism

Individual risk profiles vary depending on overall health, anatomy, and the extent of the procedure. A thorough consultation is required prior to proceeding.

Stable weight: Individuals who are at or near a stable weight, as significant weight fluctuations following the procedure may affect results

Localised fat deposits: The presence of localised fat deposits in donor areas sufficient for harvesting and transfer
